The Radharc Trust is delighted to invite entries for the Radharc Awards 2026, where we will once again celebrate documentary films of exceptional quality produced on the island of Ireland, reflecting the spirit and values of Radharc.

In 2002, the Radharc Awards were established to honour the remarkable legacy of the Radharc Films production unit, best known for its groundbreaking religious affairs programming for RTÉ between 1962 to 1997. The acclaimed ‘Radharc’ series earned recognition in Ireland and internationally for its thoughtful, compassionate and often challenging documentaries. Through powerful storytelling, careful research, technical excellence and a deep sense of humanity, these documentaries connected Irish audiences with important issues at home and around the world. Today, the Radharc Awards continue that tradition by recognising and encouraging outstanding Irish documentary filmmaking. We warmly welcome submissions from filmmakers whose work explores themes of social justice, human rights, spirituality, religious faith, heritage, and issues of national or global importance, while demonstrating creativity, integrity, positive human values and a strong commitment to documentary storytelling.

With this in mind, entries are invited under two categories:

Category One:
An award for Irish-produced television documentaries broadcast for the first time on any free to air channel on the island of Ireland between 3 September 2024 to 2 September 2026.

Category Two:
An award for documentaries produced in Ireland for first time digital distribution on a publicly accessible platform between 3 September 2024 to 2 September 2026.

Please note: Category Two is open to entries in long or short-form, and also considers work from non-professional, student, and civil organisations.
