Emma Ray, An Táin Arts Centre’s Emerging Visual Artist in Residence’s, current practice investigates the phenomenon of “Digital Ennui”: the psychological exhaustion and cognitive dissonance caused by the endlessly scrolling. We live in a visual culture where high-gloss influencer aesthetics and consumer advertisements sit in a flattened, jarring hierarchy alongside unfiltered images of global crisis and political unrest. The exhibition blurs the lines between these dual realities, forcing a confrontation with the desensitizing nature of our daily digital consumption.
